It's time to make a change.
Register to Gather for Good

International Women's Day is a time to reflect on the progress made by women and girls worldwide and to commit to supporting the work that still needs to be done.

This March, let's come together to celebrate women and girls around the world in a way that’s simple and meaningful. Gather for Good invites you to host a gathering – whether it’s a casual picnic, yoga in the park, a spa day or board games night. Every gathering is an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for a brighter future.

By hosting your own gathering and asking your fellow gatherers to make a small donation to take part, you can help set change in motion.

All funds raised will go toward funding UN Women programs dedicated to ensuring the progress of women and girls everywhere.

How it Works

Decide on what type of gathering you would like to host and register your gathering then set up your online fundraising page.

Invite friends, family and colleagues to join your gathering. From a crochet circle to a relaxing stroll through a park, make it special your own way.

Ask each guest to donate $15 (or more!) to your fundraising page to join the gathering. All donations go to supporting essential programs for women and girls, ensuring they have the opportunities they deserve.

Gather your group on your chosen day in March. Wear something purple, start conversations, connect and most importantly, make sure everyone knows that together, we are making a difference.

Why Gather for Good?

Thirty years ago, the world committed to a bold vision for gender equality through the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. This landmark document outlined 12 critical areas where progress was urgently needed for women’s and girls’ rights worldwide.

Since 1995, we’ve seen women break barriers, reshape policies, and ignite movements worldwide.

Yet, despite significant progress, the promises of Beijing remain largely unfulfilled for millions of women. Last year alone, 612 million women and girls lived amidst the brutal realities of armed conflict, a disturbing 50 percent increase in just a decade. Systemic inequalities, entrenched socio-cultural norms, rising violence against women, and economic disparities not only obstruct our path forward, but threaten the hard-won gains we have achieved.

We are simply not where we should be.

IWD is an opportunity to use our voices to demand world leaders that women and girls are given equal opportunity to build their capabilities and strengthen their capacity to learn, earn and lead.

When you support UN Women Australia by registering to Gather for Good, every dollar you raise will make a real difference through funding programs and initiatives that support women’s economic empowerment and drive positive change on a global scale.

Need some ideas?

Your Gathering can be as simple as an informal stroll around the park or you can go all out and cook a four- course dinner for 12 friends. Gather for Good is all about coming together, taking the chance to connect, raise awareness, and fundraise for a better, more equitable future.

Below are some ideas for different types of Gatherings:

Connect over food but make it casual - a picnic, backyard BBQ or sausage sizzle at your school

Head to the Botanic Gardens or the beach and walk or run with your run club, friends or colleagues
Love music? Go out dancing or start warming up those vocal cords for an epic night of Karaoke

Host a potluck dinner at home, an office-wide bake-off or head out for drinks with the team

Pull out the yarn and needles and gather round for a crochet or knitting circle
Call the girls round for a movie marathon or binge the entire fourth season of Bridgerton. Don't forget the popcorn!
Get moving! Gather the troops round for a yoga session, volleyball, tennis or soccer game!

Get competitive with a games night at your place! Make it extra fun by getting everyone to dress up in a costume

Calling all
Schools and
Workplaces

If you are a school or organisation holding a gathering, consider purchasing a box of purple ribbons (50 in a box) to sell at your school or workplace during the month of March.

All proceeds from the sale of every purple ribbon will go towards funding programs across the globe to accelerate the progress of equality for women and girls, by ensuring they have access to education, skills training and job opportunities.

Place your order by 20 Feb to receive your order in time!

Why is UN Women Australia raising funds?

A woman's voice is louder now than it has ever been before. Thirty years on from the Beijing Declaration we can see the evidence that gender equality is possible, but only if we all step up.

UN Women Australia relies entirely on voluntary contributions from governments, the private sector and passionate, generous individuals like you. By choosing to fundraise this International Women's Day, you are directly impacting the life of a woman or girl.

UN Women programs run in over 100 countries across the globe working to provide women and girls access to technology, training programs and safe spaces, empowering women and girls to obtain an education, become leaders in their community and build a brighter, more equal future for us all.
